The building
A hotel full of charm
The name “La Cauquière” probably derives from the Provençal verb Cauca, which means to tread (the sheaves of wheat, the harvest, the earth) by trampling. According to the elders, at the beginning of the street, there were large vats to tread the grapes of the vineyards of the Charbonnier property.
Some offer an alternative explanation, considering that Cauquièro also means tannery, mesisserie, Provençal, but no trace of activity of preparation or tanning of leathers in this district confirms these claims.
Despite being one of the oldest buildings in the village, our property has preserved its charm and authenticity while offering all the modern comforts.
