In the heart of Provence

Le village du Beausset : vue générale

Le village du Beausset : vue généraleLa Cauquière welcomes you to the heart of the provençal town of Le Beausset in the Var département of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France.

An exceptional region where you can find juxtaposed famous Bandol vineyards, the magnificent beaches of Sanary-sur-Mer, Bandol and St-Cyr-sur Mer, typical Provençal villages (Le Castellet is only 2km away); all with the magnificent backdrop of the massive rock outcrop of Saint-Baume.

The building

“Cauquière” most probably draws its origin from the Provençal verb Cauca; the milling – by treading – of sheaves of wheat or harvested grapes. Old accounts tell of big troughs that once stood at the end of the street for treading the grapes from the Charbonnier vineyards. Some people propose an alternative explanation, since “Cauquièro” is the Provencal word for tannery. No trace of activity linked to the preparation or tanning of leather has been found in the district to confirm this, however.

The garden and the swimming pool

A walled garden with century-old trees, lush green lawn and a flower-filled terrace – serene and restful. Whether at the pool edge or dining on the terrace, nature is a companion. The hotel swimming pool is open from 10AM- 7PM.

An exceptional environment
